AMSAFE SEAT BELT UPGRADE
Are you tired of not being able to reach your fuel selector on the floor? Or being able to change radio frequencies, adjust your throttle quadrant, or just be able to reach what you need in the cockpit?
We designed this seat belt system so you don't have to slide the shoulder belt off every time you want to move. Trying to reach the fuel selector valve on the floor, changing radio frequencies, or making any other adjustments on the panel or throttle quadrant always required moving the shoulder belt or flying with it loose. Now we can do all of those things while still being held securely in the seat.
We first looked at just mounting an inertia reel on the existing end fitting bolt for the shoulder harness but it didn't look or fit right. So we decided to mount the front and back seat belts just like an automobile. What could be simpler and look better.
These belts work very well and come in an assortment of colors. They are MADE BY AMSAFE the premier seat belt manufacturer for all of aviation. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. Now we can move and perform any function in the cockpit while still being held securely in the front or back seat.
THEY ARE ACCOMPANIED WITH AN 8130-3 AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE.
These replacement restraint assemblies are constructed to meet the 3000-pound requirements of TSO-C114 and are superior to the older TSO-C22 belt assemblies. They are fabricated using upgraded hardware components and the polyester webbing will provide a longer service life than the previously used nylon material.
Installation of replacement seat belt assemblies is considered to be PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE per CFR 14, Part 43, app A, C, item 14. An appropriately rated pilot or mechanic must make an airframe logbook entry. The aircraft weight and balance remains unchanged.
AMSAFE WARRANTY: 1 year warranty on the webbing and a 3 year warranty on the hardware which by definition is everything else other than the webbing.
AMSAFE RETURN POLICY: Returns are accepted only for restraints that have never been installed in an aircraft, with a 70% restocking fee.

FRONT SEAT BELTS ON LANCAIR 4P
To mount the front inertia reel round out the single mounting hole towards the reel so the seat cover bolt will fit inside the hole and attach to the seat pan.
Use a longer mounting screw with large washer. Cut the washer on one side so it doesn't interfere with the inertia reel.
Temporarily mount the reel as tight to the fuselage wall as possible and make sure the belt guide on the reel is pointed up. It is spring loaded so the first time you pull on the belt it will most likely go to the up position.
Run the belt straight up to the D-Ring mounting screw and temporarily mount the D-Ring to get an idea where to cut the pass through hole. The biggest piece that has to get through the hole is the snap in latch that goes into the buckle. We cut a hole approximately 3 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. You can use automotive edging or some other similar grommet to line the inside of the hole so the belt does not rub on the carbon fiber or fiber glass. Note: This can be purchased at Austin Hardware in Texas, 800.527.5640 P/N 1350B2X3/8. This is for material that is 3/8 of an inch thick.
Once the hole is finished, loosely mount the inertia reel, run all pieces through the pass through hole, mount the D-Ring with the 1/2 to 1/4 inch reducing washer to the existing 1/4 inch shoulder harness bolt, and mount the end fitting to the already existing 1/4 inch lap bolt.
Check alignment and tighten all bolts. We left the D-ring a little loose so it can pivot with the movement of the belt.
Mount the 12 inch buckle on the existing 1/4 inch bolt on the internal wing spare.

REAR SEAT BELTS LANCAIR 4P
To mount the rear four hole inertia reels place them as far out board to the fuselage as possible, and about 3/4 inch in from the front of the hat rack. We placed ours right next to the bolt on the hat rack leaving enough space to be able to get a socket wrench on it.
Mark all four holes and drill making sure there is not anything on the other side in the baggage compartment to run into. With our install we ran into some of the fiberglass on the outer fuselage bolts and had to grind out a pocket so the washer and bolt would sit flat on the surface. The inside bolts where no problem.
Dry fit the reels. Insert all the bolts and snug them down to make sure all bolts are the correct length. Take apart and use a good sealer on the bolts and holes to ensure there are not any pressurization leaks.
Bolt the end fitting on the already existing 1/4 inch lap bolt. Tighten snug so the end fitting can still swivel on the bolt but is not so loose that it can wiggle on the bolt.
Mount the red button buckle on the existing attach point in the center of the back seat.
BOLTS, WASHERS, NUTS, AND GROMMETS NOT INCLUDED.
